Today while I was looking out the deck window I saw a hummingbird buzzing in and out of the pine tree next to the building. It was flitting around and going in and out of the branches. It didn’t look like it was feeding on anything, but I suppose that is possible. I was not able to get a picture of it.
I am hoping to get pictures this summer of hummingbirds on the deck. They have been visitors in the past, and this summer I am planting flowers specifically for them to feed from.
So bought a pack of seeds of a Hummingbird Garden from Renee’s Garden. It contains 3 different types of plants.
Scarlet Runner Bean – climbers
I have a good-sized pot with a trestle in it for the Runners. This trestle currently has some solar color changing lights on it. They look cute at night. They only last for a few hours at this time of year, but as the sun hits the panel longer I should get more hours of lights. I am looking forward to seeing runner vines climbing up this.
Scarlet Flame Zinnias – Medium
I have one pot started with these. I put them in the center of the pot, only a few seeds, and around the outside I put some of the low flowers. My hope is this will make a full pot of flowers.
Summer Charm Nasturtium – low
I am going to add some of these seeds to one or two of the window boxes I have. I also have 2 more pots that can have some
Two of the window boxes have plants in them. One box is a low small leaf ground cover. There are a couple of California poppies in there.
Here is a look at what I have going right now. I am expecting a bird bath that attaches to the railing. I have a small fountain pump that will make a cute little fountain on the railing.
